Project Overview:
We undertook a significant project to upgrade the electrical infrastructure of Downing College's entire network. The primary objective was to replace both low voltage and high voltage cables, ensuring a reliable and efficient power supply to the university buildings. The project encompassed various tasks including trench work, ducting installation for cable protection, cable pulling, laying, and the restoration of groundworks to their original state.
Challenges:
- Busy Environment & Proximity to Moving Parts: The project required close collaboration with Downing College faculty and staff while managing operations amidst the bustling campus environment. Working near moving parts of the university posed safety challenges.
- Minimal Disruption: Maintaining operations and minimising disruptions to the university's daily activities were essential.
Solutions:
- Thorough Planning and Coordination: Extensive planning sessions ensured smooth execution. Work was scheduled during off-peak hours to minimise disruption, and close coordination with Downing College officials was maintained.
